Grooming Supplies for a Long-Haired Dog?

I am growing out my dog’s hair (he’s a lhasa apso). And want to know what grooming supplies i will need when his hair is long.

Wow, there’s the first question that I’ve read on this website that I’ve wanted to answer in a long time. First of all invest in a good brush and a good steel comb, one with the long teeth, it’s more like a cat comb. I have four Lhasas and 2 persian cats so it really works out well for me. Also you need stay on top of the brushing. His hair will get matted if you don’t and it takes a while to come out and sometimes you may have to cut it and make it look uneven. He will get dirty quicker but if you keep him brushed you won’t have to bathe him as much, no more than twice a month, Make sure you pay attention to the hair in the ears, hair around the anal area and hair around the eyes as the eyes can drain and the hair becomes matted and get stiff and will poke their eyes and cause irritation. I would invest in a grooming table, a good set of clippers. Since you only have 1 dog I don’t think I would buy a dryer unless you want to, and also buy a pair of the curved ball point shears, 7-1/2. We have a pair of those and they are absolutely wonderful. They are extremely sharp and really make trimming around the paws easy. They are about $25.00 to $30.00. It’s going to cost some money but in the long run it’s going to pay for itself.
