Legg-Calve-Perthes Disease for my pug?

My dog was just diagnosed with the disease, she is a pug that is 1 yr 3 months old and a purebred. She is in the beginning stages of it, I saw a specialist at Michigan Veterinary Specialists specifically DVM, MS, DACVS Kathleen Ham. She recommended surgery but I am wondering if I can reverse this disease.

What I remember about Legg-Perthes is that the head of the thigh bone slowly dies and the joint is no longer corrected. It can cause massive infection when it dies if not removed. I have never heard of this disease being reversible. Your best bet is to listen to your Vet and have the surgery done early in life, so this dog can adapt. The muscles around the joint will hold the joint together, and the only indication will be a slight “swing” in the walk, if they do it right. With age, the muscle may weaken, and the dog may walk with a limp, or stop putting weight on the leg at all, but dogs can walk on three legs.
Keep her weight down so a not to put any additional strain on the leg.

Where is your breeder? Did you get a health guarantee? This is a genetic condition. I would go after the breeder to help pay for this.
