Can you get fleas from somewhere besides pets?

I have one bite on each hand and several on one foot–I’m pretty sure they’re from fleas after looking at pictures online. None of my pets have them, we checked.

I recently changed my sheets on my bed (put on sheets that were folded in my closet) and one morning I did wake up to find the several bites on my foot, but when I turned back the sheets and looked carefully I couldn’t see anything.

Is there anywhere else these stupid things could be coming from besides pets?

Fleas can be anywhere, carpets, bedding, drapery, soft material covered furniture (sofa;s, chairs,etc…) car upholstery, barns, stables, straw or hay bales, lawns, gardens, birds,…. I think you get the drift.

It’s spring though. We share the planet with some pretty interesting creepy things. If it’s a one time thing, keep it clean and let it heal. If you start noticing more as the days go by you may want to first visit a doctor to verify what it is.

If it’s confirmed as fleas or some other uninvited house guest there are a tone of things you can do to get rid of them but the cheapest, least corrosive and most effective in killing the adult, larvae and eggs of any insect is steam. Steam clean the carpets, wash all the bedding in HOT water and bleach, steam clean your mattresses and soft material furniture.

Time consuming but worth it.
