Will a regular surge protector protect an electric Dog Fence from lightning?

We are purchasing the Innotek SD-2100 Electric Dog fence to contain our 30 lb. lab/husky mix. (We live on a busy road and she likes to zig-zag across the street!) I know that they have special lightning protection surge protectors made specifically for the dog fence, but I’m wondering if a regular electronics surge protector would do the same thing.

I can’t tell you either way because I don’t know for definite, so if I were in your situation of not being sure, i’d go for gthe fence surge protector just to be safe.
