Which is a good quality Dog Food? Eukanuba, Eagle Pack, Iams or Artemis?

I have a 10 month old Border Collie puppy and I am trying to find a better Quality Dog food. She’s currently on Pedigree so anything is a step up really. Any thoughts on Eukanuba, Eagle Pack, or IAMS??

It sounds to me like you are searching for the best value for your dollar. If that is certainly the case, the only brand of the ones you listed that I would recommend would be Eagle Pack, but only the holistic formula.

I would not recommend either Iams or Eukanuba (BTW, Eukanuba is made by the Iams Co.). I have a big problem with Iams, and here it is.. About 6 or 7 years ago the Iams Company was purchased by Procter & Gamble. Since P&G is a big money company, they decided to change the Iams formula to make it cheaper so they could sell it in grocery stores and big box stores. However, they failed to inform the customers that were currently purchasing their food that they changed the formula. As a result, many dogs who had been happily eating Iams for years were having allergic reactions, stomach problems, etc. They did keep the Eukanuba formula intact, however they have not really updated it either. Eukanuba was one of the best years ago, but now it is just “okay”. It has certainly not kept up with the times.

Artemis is a good food, don’t get me wrong, but it is far too costly in my opinion.

Just about anything you choose will be better then Pedigree. Pedigree is darn near bottom of the barrel (the bottom spot is reserved for Ol’ Roy, IMO).

Other brands that will likely be a much better value for your dollar would include: Nutro Ultra (not Max or Natural Choice), Wellness, Merrick and Canidae. Ultra certainly has great value for the dollar, but is probably not the best. Wellness and Merrick are great foods and are good value. With Merrick you can see the Freeze Dried vegetables and it smells like stew. But, in my opinion the best value is Canidae. Top quality ingredients at an exceptional price. The grain free version is the best one. If there were an emergency, I would have no problem eating any of those foods.

I would reccommend researching the foods listed and you may be plesently suprised at the value of them. No matter what, your dog is going to be much better off with a better food and an owner that cares about what goes into her tummy.
