Dry Eye In Dogs Treatment
Any experiences with Zinc Deficiancies in dogs?
I have been battling with hair loss in my Siberian Husky around his eyes and on some parts of his muzzle. The skin is dry and somewhat cracked/flaky in these areas, but no itching or blisters is apparent. It has not spread, but each time it seems to improve, the healed skin flakes off, causing the hair to come off as a result. I have gone to my vet, but they didn’t have an idea of the cause. I have an option to have a biopsy performed, but I’m wondering if it’s really necessary, as I don’t exactly have $1000 to waste on a biopsy for something that may be a simple allergy.
I have heard about Huskies having a common Zinc deficiancy, and was wondering if anyone has any experience with this in their pet? Symptoms/Treatments are extremely appreciated. Obviously, I will be returning to a vet for a second opinion, but I would like to have some research done so that I’m not duped into an unnecessary procedure or cost. Thank for your input. :]

If I were you I would get in touch with the breeder and find out if other dogs from the same litter are having this problem.
Hair loss is one of the trickiest things to diagnose in dogs. It can be allergies, mange, thyroid problems, plain ol’ dry skin, or any one of several diseases.
If your Husky isn’t itching then it is probably not a bacterial infection.
