How much would I charge for dog walking?

I’m 14 years old and I want to do dog walking in my holidays for some pocket money but i don’t know how much to charge. I’m great with animals (dogs in particular) but this is the first time i’ve walked dogs for money. I just want to know how much i should charge and what are some tips for getting started?

Check the yellow pages in your area and call some dog walkers. Act as if you’re interested in hiring them to walk your dog and find out what they charge. Get a few prices from different dog walkers. This way you will know what others are charging and you can charge a little less. If you just set a certain price without research you can either charge too much or way too little. If you charge 5 and everybody else charges 15 then you are losing out on money. If that was the scenario then you could charge 10 which is still less than the others, but twice as much as you would of made without calling them. Just don’t walk more than you can handle and find out from the owners if there are any problems with the dog i.e. the dog chases cats, hates other dogs, has a leg that acts up, etc. And like somebody else said, you are soley responsible for the dogs while they are in your care. Even if they bite someone.
