Dog Vaccinations
Recently rescued dog, will giving duplicate vaccinations hurt her?
We recently rescued a dog from near a dumpster where my partner works. She’s a beagle/pit mix, and she’s as sweet as can be. We’re looking at taking her in for her vaccinations, as she had no tags when we found her on her collar indicating she had her rabies or anything else. Will it harm her if she has in fact had the vaccinations before to get them for her again? I want to make sure she is safe, but not if it is going to pose a health risk.
The chances of her getting a dangerous illness if she hadn’t been vaccinated far outweigh the dangers of duplicating her vax. There is very little risk with duplicating vaccinations; basically it amounts to an extra (or couple extra) boosters….
Titres are absolutely one possibility but they are very expensive (as one poster pointed out) and may show that the dog needs to be vaccinated anyway.
