How to train a dog not to pee everywhere?

my new dog pees everywhere. I think she may have a bladder problem but im not sure. She is a chihuahua and i think her previous owners treated her like a baby, or something she is 3 years old and pees when you pet her, when you scold her, practically all the time… any ideas to what i can do?

p.s dont say Vet, because my mom is not willing to take her.

I got a Heeler last year and she was a very submissive dog. I think she wasn’t well treated by her previous owners. She was 4 when I got her.

Anyway, she would pee a lot. Mostly just tinkle a bit if you reached down to pet her, moved to suddenly, called her name, got her excited, or anything that upset her.

The first thing I had to realize was that she didn’t mean to.

So I started by speaking softer. Letting her outside to pee a lot.

Cleaning up the pee thoroughly.

She would also pee in the kitchen as if she wasn’t house trained. (and maybe she wasn’t) So I would put her food or water wherever she peed so she would get that subtle hint.

Anyway, as she grew to trust me and got over her shock and nervousness about being in a new home she learned that daddy isn’t mean like her old owners and that when I jump up and down or move suddenly or hoot and holler, which I do to increase her calmness, that she never need fear a beating or anything bad happening.

She rarely pees now a year later. She may tinkle a little bit but that is usually if she hasn’t been outside in a few hours.

Try to use bleach to get rid of the smell once you’ve wiped up all the urine. Dogs will take it as a sign that peeing in that location is OK.

Also when I got her she wouldn’t pee or poop anywhere but in the yard. So when I took both my dogs on walks every day she would never go to the bathroom.

She pees now but still has never pooped outside the yard since I got her last year.

Baby steps I guess.
