My wife is looking for a new dog, small to medium size, any suggestions?

She wants a dog that’s small to medium sized, but is not fluffy and doesn’t look like it can be easily intimidated. It also has to get along with other dogs and kids.

Beagle or basset hound. Beagle are tough little dogs and basset hounds are too lazy to be bothered with being intimidated. Miniature Pinschers aren’t fluffy at all, and they are very small (smaller than most cats) and they can have a tough little attitude as well. If you’re looking for a puppy, don’t get a mutt, because there is no telling exactly how big they can get (a Vet told me my rescue puppy wouldn’t get over 20 pounds. He now weighs over 60 pounds) A dog will get along with kids and other dogs if they are socialized early.
