Does your dog take shoes but not chew them? Mine does and he wont stop my dad says we have to take him to the pound. We live in the middle of nowhere but when we leave our garage door open a shoe goes missing we will sometimes find them but they are unchewed and in the woods. Does your dog take shoes but not chew them?
I have one dog once who did the same. Let me explain why he did that.
Sometimes when we have to leave the house for some reason, he get frustrated because he was very used to be around us all the time. He get to my closet and search only for my shoes.
He took them outside and sleep on them until I came home. He also did this sometimes with towels or t-shirts that belong to me. The reason was simple, he just missed me and wanted something that belong to me that had my smell. That was the way that he soothed himself for being apart from me.
Does your dog took different shoes from different members of your family? In that case, he only wants your attention.
In both cases, there is no need to take him to the pound. That is a very sad and extreme measure for a dog that really doesn’t mean no harm. He didn’t chew the shoes! He only wants to play…..
You can spend with him more time and also you can teach him that this is a bad behavior and that you don’t want him to do it. Hope this helps….
