Dog Shoes
How do I make my dog not freak out when I am putting on my shoes?
Every time I put my shoes on (or even just socks), my dog thinks I’m taking her on a walk. She gets hyper and can’t sit still, runs around the house and won’t stop.
I do walk her, just not every time I put my feet in shoes.
You desensitize your dog,
You put your shoes on / take them off several time a day, and don’t go anywhere, just go about your business around the house. Reward for calm behaviour,
If she acts up when you get the leash out, or put it on, ALL forward motion STOPS until she is calm.
