Dog Incontinence Treatment

dog incontinence treatment
Dog pees in her sleep?

My dog Emma is a little over a year old. She was spayed at 4 months (more likely because we got her from the pound). I’ve been reading that spayed females sometimes lose their bladder control. She just woke up less than an hour ago, got up and her expression was “is that MY pee? did I pee? why am i wet?” kind of thing it was kind of akward for her and I could tell.

I read about the UTI’s, what are the probabilities of it being an actual infection? What are the chances of it just being caused by the fact that she was spayed? Is the medication to treat it a lifelong thing? Is it expensive? What are the side effects for long term treatment of this problem (if it is incontinence)?

Spay incoutinance. IT is one of the risks of spaying.

Fecal incontinence is a frequent, distressing condition that has a devastating impact on patients? lives. However, patients are typically embarrassed and reluctant to acknowledge this disability, so they relinquish the possibility of being cured and remain socially isolated. Today, a wide range of therapeutic options is available, but making the correct choice is pivotal to the successful management of this condition. This book is aimed at all physicians involved in the assessment and treatment of fecal incontinence. Neurobiology of Incontinence

Neurobiology of Incontinence

Incontinence is a very common and often devastating problem, but one that goes largely unacknowledged. In order to elucidate the underlying mechanisms of this major clinical condition, this symposium brought together neuroscientists working on the basic biology of the bladder and bowel and clinicians dealing with the various manifestations of urinary and fecal incontinence. The resulting coverage is broad and includes papers on the innervation and functional anatomy of the urinary tract and anorectal region, and the central neural control of these areas. Other contributions discuss the functional assessment of the anorectum and bladder, stress incontinence and the neurogenic hypothesis of incontinence, detrusor-external sphincter dyssynergia, and pharmacological and surgical approaches to treatment.
