When is it safe to introduce my resident dog to the new dog that has kennel cough?

We adopted a dog from the Humane Society. He has kennel cough. We’ve separated him from our resident dog. He is currently on antibiotics. It’s been a week and the new dog’s cough as improved. Our resident dog is at a friend’s house. Since kennel cough is contagious, when is it safe to have our resident return home to avoid getting the virus?

Check with your Vet. If the new dog is on antibiotics and is getting better and since it has been a week, it is probably okay to introduce them to each other. I would absolutely check with the vet first though. They will be able to tell you.
