How long can a dog go without heartworm medicine?

I really need to know I already got him tested and he’s fine but his heartworm medicine ran out in october so he’s skipped a month now hes fine and everything but im worried I don’t really have the money to buy his medicine right now,like I mean i’m really broke im living with my cousins because of some personal things and i can’t have them paying for the costs of my dog but I dont want to give him up yet I know that the medicine for 6 months costs only about 40 on 1800petmeds i’m not sure if u can get it any cheaper than that but if you know of a site where i can get something thats good quality but a little less in cost please tell me.
oh and how long CAN a dog go without his heartworm medicine?

Once I read about the ingredients and long term effects of heart worm medicine, I stopped giving my dogs it by CHOICE!

I still have them tested – in two years, never a problem – and we live in Florida where there are mosquitoes year round.

There are herbs/spices that will kill heart worm if your dog gets it, safely, unlike the Vet treatments. Those herbs are Wormwood, Black walnut Hulls, fresh ground cloves and Cayenne mixed together and put in capsules. It also works for other parasites. That is all I use now. I use a mixture of Neem oil, Rosemary oil, Cinnamon oil, and Eucalyptus oil mixed well with water and sprayed on for flea control. You can also use Diatomaceous Earth for flea control and parasites.
