at home Dog Grooming?

I am going to start grooming my dog at home to save money. I have a Shih Tzu he is just a pet so he doesn’t need a fancy due or anything just needs a good shaving every now and then I was thinking about buying just a regular hair razer because they are way cheaper then the dog grooming kits and they look basicly the same. Is that ok though or should I get the dog grooming kits. I have seen a lot of the shows on Youtube about how to groom your dog yourself and I figure if I get it done one more time by a pro and then start doing it myself It wouldn’t be too difficult to follow the instruction of the videos. What do you think? Does anyone else groom their own dog non professionally just in their own home? Any tips? What video would be good to follow?

Yes I groom my own dogs, well that’s because I’m a groomer. As far as the human razors no those are for people not dogs and no there not the same the motors are different and will burn up very quick. Grooming is not something you learn by watching a show. It takes practice and teaching by a professional.

I have to say that if your Shih Tzu was full coat and in good shape and you just wanted to bath him at home then fine, Clipping is some much different..

Learning to groom is hands on and is best to have a professional to guide you as you are learning to do so, because I will tell you that stuff can happen if you don’t know how to handle a moving dog.
