Is it okay for a dog to lick fur after flea bath?

I gave my chihuahua her first flea bath and don’t really know what to do or expect. I read the back and instructions, but that didn’t really help much.

My dog keeps grooming/licking/biting her fur after the bath. I’m guessing that it has to do something with the shampoo or fleas. Is it alright for her to do that? Also, I rinsed her off with water after bath, but she loves to airdry and rub up against blankets/couches/people. Is that alright? will the chemicals/flea shampoo rub onto the object and cause harm?

And what happens/should I do if the shampoo gets in her eyes? I didn’t get any, but this is just in case if it happens in the future.

I used sentry flea shampoo for toy dogs if that helps.

HI your dog will be okay if you rinsed her off. to dry off she will rub against everything and act like some thing is wrong but that is what they do. the nose will dive into anything to get the water off so she is ok. It is normal for dogs to do that
The chemical is on only as you are washing her because it kills the fleas on contact, and when you rinsed her off all of the chemicals come off too or it would have made her itch and scratch. terribly if you did not rinse her off.
As far as the eyes, you gently go around the head and try to wipe off all the shampoo away from the eyes. I never use it on the face for that reason, I just take a soft towel and wash their faces with the shampoo but never the eyes and I rinse the same way.

Now a suggestion to help you, I use a sprinkle of garlic powder in my dogs food and I have 6 to 7 dogs at a time. Garlic powder when used in the food omits fleas on the dog. What it does is keeps the fleas off the dog, when a flea bites the dog, it tastes so bad that the flea cannot stand to be on the dog and it leaves.
I have had no fleas in my house or yard ever in 11 years and that is all I use. NO shampoos or flea collars or Flea medicine you put on their backs. The Garlic powder is all I use and it costs no little for an effective solution.
Just a sprinkle on the food each day and you will have no fleas at all. My dogs do not scratch at all either. they are on foods that contain Omega 3 and 6 for a healthy coat and skin plus the garlic and my dogs never itch at all.
