Homemade Dog Food nutrition?
So I am trying to learn what a dog’s diet should be like. I think I might have given up on buying bagged (and canned) dog food because of the junk that is in it. What I’m looking for are the foods a dog needs to stay healthy and active. Similar to how we have a food pyramid showing how much of each food category we should be getting. The only thing I can find online is recipes though. I can come up with my own recipes I just need guidelines for what the essentials are and what good treats are. My dog is a Beagle and will be a year old in November.
I used to cook for my dogs and I couldn’t find such a chart.
I think the reason may be that each breed has it’s own nutrition requirements. So what I did was a search for my breeds nutrition requirements and looked for recipes that came from breeders. Then I tweaked them to include whatever else I felt the dogs needed.
Remeber that you’ll need to Supplement their home-cooked diet with vitamins so once you settle on the ingredients you should talk to your Vet to see what you should be giving.
