Can anyone tell me the best Electronic dog collar to keep a dog within its boundaries?

your Question is a bit unclear do you mean ‘boundaries’ as fence
- so there is the invisible boundary and when your dog steps over it it gets shocked

Problems with that:
- If Your Dog is in high drive (it sees a rabbit or the aggressiv dog or the good smelling female…) it still can overstep it.
- If it gets out it doesn’t get back in (especially if it’s out of drive)
- Other Dogs, cats… still can come in and won’t see it as the boundary your dog sees.
and Dogbehavior changes if there is a real fence between them so only your dogs behavior will be like that and it won’t really be ‘save’.

- introducing your dog to such a system (any electronic shocker) is dangerous because
- first it will start to be ‘superstitious’ it could have done anything at the moment the shock settles in and it may won’t associate it with new boundaries but with the bad tree right next to it and it will fear the tree… and get more anxious about many things because for him he is ‘randomly’ shocked ….
- your dog can get burns from the electricity
- the shock variates on how good the Collar Fits, how wet the dog is, if it’s in the proper place…

If you want to use such a system don’t use just an e-fence but combine it with a real one.

if you meant with boundaries
‘It’s boundaries’ – as a training tool

Most important is the correct and seldom use of it.
It’s not suitable for Puppy’s.

But correct used it has a ‘gentler’ stress effect than a prong collar
and can help you to train under special circumstances.
(for the handler (for example after sugery…) or dog of leash control training…)

I would recommend you to inform yourself there a little bit more. And they offer a DVD on how to handle the e-collar training.

I myself have not used e-collars but would consider it in special circumstances.
