Dog Door

How can I keep my cats inside the house and have a dog door so the dog can go out?

My cats have to be inside and if I get a doggy door and a dog, they will learn how to escape thru the door. I have a fenced yard, but the cats could easily jump the fence. What do others do when cats and dogs live together??

Have a fenced in dog run made of chain link coming right from the dog door… complete with a ‘ceiling’. That way if the cats get out, they cant ‘get out’.

I would also think to put the doggie door in a wall versus in a door, as people would not be able to walk out into the yard with the run in the way.
