what gives a dog that “doggy smell”?

I have noticed rightafter he comes indoors he smells fishy even if he just had a bath. Why is this and what can i do to make it better

Have you ruled out problems with his anal glands?

How about thyroid problems?

These are two things that can cause a dog to be stinky even just after a bath.

My dogs tend to smell a little ‘doggy’ when they’ve been outside….the more humid it is, the more they smell. But it’s not fishy….that’s a bit unusual and there could be something like the above conditions to blame.
