Dog Dish
What do I do with the dog’s water dish now that I have a baby on the move?

My 6 month old is now crawling and getting into everything! The only problem I have is with the dog’s water dish….she is constantly dumping it out! Any ideas of what I can do or products I can buy so that my daughter can’t get into it? (Not having water out isn’t an option)

What type of dog? How big? Different options for different sizes of dogs…

My dog can jump the baby gate, so it’s never been an issue to keep water out for him. There are children’s gates with small holes in the bottom for small dogs that toddlers shouldn’t be able to use. There are dog-doors that only open if the dog has a key in their collar (meaning you could have the water-bowl in another room and put the dog door in the door, and the dog would be the only one able to use the dog-door. It would be ‘locked’ for your child. It’s not cheap, but I’ve considered it for my daughter who figured out she could go out the dog door to get to the backyard unsupervised.)

I think the easiest thing though is to just keep the water dish very shallow and keep an absorbent material under it, hiding it is a good idea as well.
