Dog Diarrhea Treatment

My dog has diarrhea with a little blood in it?

I have a six month old border collie who is in very good health. He has had all his innoculations. Last night he managed to get hold of a carton of eggs (my son had left them on the side forgetting that the dog can jump as high as I am tall) To my knowledge he ate 4 raw eggs.

This morning I have been greeted with diarrhea. After clearing up he has just been again and next to the diarrhea there is a small amount of blood. He seems as lively as ever, no signs of being ill apart from the diarrhea.

Any ideas of if this is due to the eggs and if he needs veterinary treatment would be greatly appreciated.

Small amounts of blood in diarrhea or loose stools is rarely cause for concern. While it may look scary, this is a typical response of an inflamed intestinal tract. It’s just a side effect of having diarrhea.

Four eggs is quite a lot for a little dog, so I’m not surprised that he got the runs. Just withhold his dinner tonight, make sure he gets plenty of water, and he should be fine tomorrow.
