Furminator?

Does anyone else just think it is a stripper and just strips the dogs coat??? I dont agree with it…
I groomed a golden the other day that looked like it was just growing out from a shave..NOPE the owners got a new furminator..I dont get how it got so popular!

I use it on my lab, and like it a lot. I agree that it does take the guard hairs out with the undercoat, but not ALOT of the guard hairs. Most of the time I use it and only see the fluffy, downy undercoat collecting on the blade.

Sometimes I notice more guard hairs, but they get shed too, right??? The blade is only supposed to pull out dead hair anyway. If I was showing my dog in conformation I probably wouldn’t use a furminator, but for everyone else I think it’s great.

EDIT: LOL NEWFS… I don’t know what it does to a newf’s coat, but it didn’t ruin my lab’s coat. She still has a hard outer coat, and the furminator actually does a really good job of bringing out the oils. She goes swimming, shakes off, and she’s hardly even wet, and not dirty, so I don’t think it’s ruining her coat. Although it sounds bad for newfs!!
