Am i brushing my cats properly?

I Have a two sided brush, one is like a Slicker Brush and the other has bristles on it. I usualy use the slicker end to get out all the cots and the bristle end to make my cat soft and fluffy. It seems to be working (my cat is long haired) But the brush i am using is a dog brush (thats what is said on the packet) Am i damaging my kittie?

No just be careful how hard you press on the brush because a dog brush can sometimes have longer bristles which can hurt the cat. But if you cat dosn’t seen to be in any disconfert ( other then disliking being brushed) then it is ok, and keep it up because long haired cats are prone to getting mats, we recently had to shave ( lion cut) our long hair cat, and sometimes thats the best solution.
