Should I keep her food and water bowls inside my dog’s indoor pen with her?

The pen is about 4 feet by 4 feet. She is usually in it for 3 hours or so at a time. We’re hoping to use it to potty train her (she’s 7 months old but wasn’t trained by her former owner).

if she can control how much she eats, yes. I leave the Water Bowl in my puppy’s crate and we feed him in his crate, but because my pup is only 15 weeks and he can’t control how much he eats yet (he would eat the whole bag of food if he had the choice!), we take the food bowl away from him as soon as he is done. i was told by many people and my Vet that you want to associate the crate with something positive (like food) for your dog. If she’s not potty trained yet, then control how much she can drink before she is housebroken. I had to do that with my pup for a week before he learned and now he lets us know when he has to go and he gets to keep his water bowl in his crate.
