How much for a pet portrait?

People, including professionals in the art field, have commented that my work is professional quality.

I have a lot of experience drawing animals, and I am best at is pencil and charcoal. I really love doing it, and I was wondering if this could be a way to earn some extra money. Maybe not a lot, but I really love doing it.

My question is, what would be a reasonable price to charge for a custom pet portrait in black and white? Assuming the quality is good? I’m seriously thinking of doing this! If you can help me, thanks!

OMG! I used to do pet portraits for a living…for three years. I got on the local news and in the Tennessean.

Okay, yes you can make good money with pet portraits.
A good price for you to charge for a high quality pet portrait, let’s say a 9×12″ in black and white, would be $300 and $100 for each extra pet in the picture (though I recommend keeping it to one pet per portrait)

Your main clientelle will be wealthy people who spoil their pets. So they won’t have a problem paying the $300

If you want to test it on other people, just to get the word out, I’d say you could charge a minimum of $100 for a 9×12.
