Simply going on a trip. Need a crate!

Not sure about via rail, but most good airlines rent them, and you may find some luck in renting from an animal transport specialists.
Otherwise contact your local animal control or SPCA. If they personally don’t rent them out they will know who to put you in touch with that does.
