Are there easier-to-get-on carriers that match a simple Moby in comfort?

Having worked as a nanny, one benefit was getting to try out gear before I needed it for my own family. I wore a baby in a fairly easy to put on, chest-facing carrier with adjustable straps for a few months, and though it was sometimes preferable to either a stroller or plain carrying, it was not especially easy on my back. One day, a couple of years later, I got to experience a Moby wrap with another baby. The Mom helped me put it on, and it felt great. The trouble is that it would have been quite hard to put on by myself, since it starts out as basically a big scarf.

Almost all of the structured carriers are bad for your back and bad for the baby’s posture (as they allow them to dangle from their crotch). The only structured one I know of that isn’t bad for mom or baby is the Ergo, but I haven’t tried it so I can’t tell you if its any good. Mei Tai’s are also really comfy and good for baby and mom, but they still do have to be tied on (though they aren’t as complicated as the moby wraps). The moby wraps aren’t that hard to tie once you get used to it, I can do it pretty quickly now. You could also look at ring slings, they are really easy to put on but they don’t distribute the weight as good as the moby or mai tei’s do.
I prefer to use my moby when I’ll be carrying my baby for a long time as its the most comfortable, I even used to use it to carry my daughter when she weighed 35 pounds and could carry her for a half hour without any back pain. With my younger daughter I used the sling for the first 6 months and even now that she is 18 months I use it if I just need to put her in it to quickly run into a store or something. I haven’t had the Mei Tai for very long so I haven’t gotten to use it much but my friend carried her daughter in it until she was 2 and loved it.
