Will a bell or lights on my dog’s collar warn chickens?

My dog has started going into my neighbor’s yard and killing his free range chickens. Would a bell on her collar warn the chickens so they would have a chance to get away? Or lights on the collar? (And please don’t tell me to keep the dog in my own yard–I can figure that one out on my own)

Chooks are very, very stupid. When they see the dog coming they will run, the dog then chases the chook.

You have actually answered your own question – keep YOUR dog in YOUR yard and you will have no problems with YOUR dog killing the neighbour’s chooks. Where I live, a dog that kills livestock (and chooks are considered livestock) are destroyed.

Edit: Evil Cookies: Don’t believe that chooks can’t fly. My MIL’s chooks would come into my dogs yard, and trust me they can fly if they have to – not far and not well though.

I was sitting in my lounge room and saw a chook fly past the window. It actually flew for about 10 metres. I raced outside but there were 2 chooks in the yard, and 2 dogs so I could only save 1 chook.
