Is it appropriate to wear a simple white top with khakis to a wedding?

I have a wedding to go to on Saturday and I was wanting to wear this new sleevless white knit shirt that has a stylish collar with my wide leg khakis with some white or brown sandals. But then, my mom pointed out that it might not be appropriate. If I use brown and silver jewelry to accessorize, will it be okay?

But then, my mom pointed out that it might not be appropriate. If I use brown and silver jewelry to accessorize, will it be okay? I hate wearing dresses, so that is out. And being a summer wedding, I don’t want to wear black.

You can usually get a good idea of what to wear by what time the wedding is. For example; a day wedding is more casual than an evening wedding.

However, regardless of the time of the wedding, khakis are a bit too casual. Also, nobody is supposed to wear a solid white item of clothing since that is the brides color.

If it’s a day wedding you could wear some gaucho pants (if you’re set on pants) and if it’s an evening wedding I would recomment a cocktail dress.
