How do i train a cocker spaniel that is at least 5 years old to do tricks?

Ok I want a baby bunny/rabbit! Well my mom said that I can only have 1 if i train my at least 5 yr old Cocker Spaniel,Sweetie, to be a behaved dog but when u tell her to sit she looks at u like ur dumb! What do I do & how?
Right now I don’t have time 4 obedience classes!!

You need to find something Sweetie LOVES (like treats) and use that to get her to behave like you want her to. From now on, she will only get that thing she loves by doing what you want her to do and not whenever she wags her tail. If she wants the really good stuff, she has to do good things like you will teach her to do. This is a training method called “Nothing in Life is Free,” and it works very well with dogs who are older or “hard to train.”

First of all, train Sweetie with food and never trick her. She will be MUCH easier to train if she knows she’s always going to be getting something good for doing what you want her to do. If you trick her, she will not trust you. Dogs will not obey someone they do not trust.

Second, start training her by noticing her when she sits by herself. When she does, tell her “Sit! Good Girl Sweetie!” and reward her with a treat. If she will not sit when she’s around you, you can push her chin up and her butt down while saying “Sit” and then praise and reward her. This will put her body into a natural sitting position. By saying the command every time she sits and rewarding her for doing it, she will associate the word with the motion, and doing the motion with an immediate reward. After doing that for a couple days, try telling her to sit on your own and rewarding her immediately when she does it.

Do something like this for a few minutes a couple of times a day at random times to train her to do it whenever you command her to, not just at certain times of day. Second, repetition is always good, but if your dog starts showing boredom or frustration, move on to something else.

After that, you can use the same method to teach her to LAY, COME, SHAKE, and even ROLL.
