Closure Dog
Just received our dog’s ashes back and my husband almost refused to let me see them….?
We all have different ways of grieving as well as obtaining closure from a death, pet or human. We received our 12 year old Staffy back this evening and I wanted to open up the box just to peek at the remains as my way of closure and saying goodbye. My husband flipped out and told me I was wrong for trying to disturb her ashes/remains. He explained that I should respect our dog and leave her be, and that I was “wrong” for wanting to view the ashes.
I’m really not trying to be morbid, but he makes me feel like something was wrong with what I wanted to do. He is completely upset with me and is shocked that I’m not “apologizing” to him for what I did. To me, he’s being a complete a**hole…..
Has anyone wanted to view their pet’s ashes for closure and is it truly “wrong”??
You are not in the wrong for wanting to view the ashes.
Plain and simple, we all grieve differently.
