Recommended Groom Supplies?

Have a Bouvier about 95-100lbs. and need advice on a good clipper set. Suggestions on good brands/models would be great. Also was wondering if anyone has used the Paws for Thought Booster Bath(one i’m looking at withstands close to 180-185lbs)? Is it worth it or is there a better home-bather out there? Decided to start permantly home-grooming my bouv instead of paying almost 55-85$ per groom session depending on what I have done. Any recomended supply brands, supplies you suggest would be GREAT! I do have basic slickers, brush, combs, nail cutters, kwik-stop at home for daily normal grooming.

Hi, the booster bath will work. I would highly recommend a bathing system too. For $100 or so you can make a Hydro surge washer. It will recirculate the water and shampoo. It dilutes the shampoo and really cleans the dog. Check out www.groomers.net for the board. Then search the board for Hydro surge.

You will need a good dryer to blow out the curly coat. The metro 4.0 hp dryer is the minimum you need.

I would recommend Best Shot Shampoo system. This is very good for getting tangles out and loosening matts.

You will need a Andis clipper. I think the best source is www.petedge.com, It will come with a #10 blade. This is good for face, feet and sanitary area. Do not go with any clippers from Wal Mart, they won’t last two grooms ! The Bouvier has a lot of hair, and these clippers are not built to take it.

You will need two blades of the length you want. When one blade gets warm to the touch, take it off and use the other blade, while the first cools.

You will need metal combs, and Good quality slickers. The better the slicker, the better it is on the cuticle of the hair. When you have a healthy intact cuticle, you get less matting. A good rake and a matt splitter too.
