How To Use Clippers To Cut ShihTzus Hair?

We just bought an Andis Pro Clipper set that comes with a #10 Blade and four attachment combs. I understand the #10 blade is for shorter cuts, We want our dogs hair to be cut to about 3/4 to 1 inch long. I see there are other size blades. Is it possible to use a #10 blade with the combs and have the dogs hair cut to 3/4 – 1 inch long or will we have to buy another size blade? If we need another size blade what size shoul
d we get Any help will be very much appreciated.
Mared…So I can use the #10 blade with the clipper guides to get a 1 inch cut or do I have to buy a different blade?

From what I understand the Andis pro clippers is just a basic unit with detachable blades in order to give your Shih Tzu a professional clip a 10 blade is way too short a 10 blade is good for trimming the tummy, bottom of the feet in between the eyes yes you can give a hair cut with guide combs from my own experience they do not work well on a shih tzu due to the fact they have a double coat unlike a Yorkshire Terrier I have a 4F, 7F, 3F,and a 10

I have a oster A5 2 speed and they are great I recommend oster but since you already have a set of clippers .

I don’t have my dogs clipped any more I have been growing their hair out since september so I cant help in that area of grooming I can show you pictures of the finished dog.

My favorite dog Bella she has her body clipped in this photo is a 1/2 inch as well as her face you are going to need to purchase a pair of shears if you do not have a pair. and her tummy is done with a 10 blade. I hope this helps.

My little girl she is clipped in a 4F or 3/8 her tummy and feet were done in a 10 blade and a scissor trim on her face.

Before you run those clippers through your dogs hair oil them and brush the dog out remove any and all mats with a scissors even if they are too the skin as the matts will clog the clippers making it imposable to use them. And bathe your dog never clip a dirty dog always washed, fully dried and free from any matts. Sounds like alot of work.
