Why is the Evil Eye charm in Greek culture blue?

When I was visiting Greece this summer I think I remember a tour guide mentioning that the reason the Evil Eye charms in Greece are blue is because Greeks all have brown eyes and consider blue eyes to be evil…for whatever reason. Is this true, and if not, what is the real meaning behind the blue Evil Eye charms?

Blue is the color of the sky so it often is used to symbolize divinity. Most charms against the evil eye have the all seeing eye, i.e the eye of God, featured on them.
