I’m an asthmatic and I’m allergic to my cat…?

Has anyone out there with the same problem found a solution? I don’t want to give him up to a shelter.

There’s a number of things you can do. They found out over a decade ago that you can reduce the amount of dander in the home by taking distilled water and sponging down the walls and furniture from knee high on down, to get rid of clinging dander (it eliminates up to 75%), and use warm distilled water to wet down the cat to the skin–no soap, just wet the cat down and towel dry.

Also, keep the air filter in your bedroom and make the bedroom a ‘cat free’ zone.

I hear good things about the furminator, but haven’t used one yet.

You can get fur off your furniture by wiping with a damp sponge. But it’s the dander & fluid from the saliva that causes allergic reactions,not the fur itself.

Also check with your doctor to see if you can get one of the desensitizing shots for this.

I’d recommend going over to www.google.com and typing in ‘controlling cat allergies’, there are lots of suggestions over there that will work.
