Cat Bristles Grooming

Don’t cats like to be brushed?

My cat just turned 1 and he still doesn’t like to be brushed. He has medium/long hair so he really needs it, although he keeps his coat well groomed. Occasionally little hair balls fly out of him when he rolls around on the carpet.

How can I get him to stop running in fear from the brush? I use the Pet Zoom brush which has fine metal spikes, but I have tried a brush that had thick wooden bristles and that didn’t work either. Don’t they grow out of the “get that foreign object away from me” phase?

Maybe you should try a soft bristle brush, like humans use. I have been told that the metal brushes hurt your cat.

To get him used to being brushed make it fun for him. Give him lots of treats and praise as you brush him.
