Are there users here whose dog has canine diabetes?

Our Westie was diagnosed with diabetes 2 days ago. Are there other users on this site whose dogs have diabetes?

We used to have a diabetic dog. He lived almost 10 years after diagnosis.

We were fortunate. A good diabetic Dog Food. Regular Vet care. No episodes of hypo / hyper glycemia.
Not once did he object to the insulin shots. With a controlled diet, his sugars stayed pretty constant.

He also had cataracts, which in dogs is often related to diabetes. We were lucky to be able to get them taken care of.

For food, we used a Hills Prescription Diet.
