Canidae Dog Food
Is Canidae Dog Food good for my 12 wk old puppy?
I am currently feeding her Iams (that’s what she was eating previously) and I’m looking into changing to a better food. I read tons of good reviews, but also tons of negative reviews because of the formula change. Some reviewers said their dogs died on Canidae! Can anyone help? Thanks in advance. Oh, I live on Guam so Canidae is the only “premium” brand on island.
One more thing, should I choose the grain-free ALS?
The only reason people had problems with the formula change is because they failed to switch their dogs over gradually. Canidae All Life Stages would be a great food for your puppy. Much, much better than Iams.
Remember that foods should be switched gradually (mixing the new slowly in with the old over the period of about week or so), especially when switching to a higher quality one, so as not to upset tummies. For example:
Days 1 & 2: 75% old food, 25% new food
Days 3 & 4: 50% old food, 50% new food
Days 5 & 6: 25% old food, 75% new food
Day 7: 0% old food, 100% new food
Edit: Grain-free would be an excellent choice.
