We have to cage/kennel our dog?

who is a 4 year old boxer EVERY time we leave. If not she’ll potty in the house and destroy it. When were home she’s a great dog tells you when she has to go out and is a very well behaved dog it’s just when we leave her. I personally think she has separation anxiety and thats why she acts the way she does when we leave. The thing is we want to help a friend and take there boston terrier but we don’t want to have to lock him up. Is there a way to break our very bad dog so we can welcome more pets into our family? I HATE locking her up but I don’t have a choice as of right not.
We have a HUGE yard and our boxer gets plenty of exercise. She is NEVER locked up more than 8 hours. The boston has to do with it cause I don’t want to have to cage one dog and not the other. I think thats cruel. My goal is to break the boxer so I don’t have to cage her. I would like the old and new dog to roam the house. But I can’t trust the boxer. The boston has NEVER been caged.

caging your dog isn’t mean, as long as it isn’t for an extended period of time and you leave her with some toys to keep her occupied. With the boston though I would keep them in separate rooms if you have leave the house so that the boxer isn’t taunted by the boston.
