Best Organic Dog Treats
Why is my dog so skinny?
I have an eight year old beagle and about a year ago he started to rapidly lose weight. His average was about 29-30 pounds and he is now currently about 16-17. He’s been to the Vet numerous times, had blood panels, heartworm, been on steriods and antibodicts etc,. We have also switched Dog Food about 4 times with everything from vet recomended to organic. He was doing fine for the past few months, still pretty skinny but getting his energy back up, but in the last week he has dropped again, and it seems worse. At one point the vet diagnosed him with Irritable Bowl syndrome and we treated him for it(as best you can with IBS) but again, nothing happened. I trust the vet, my family has used him for years, but maybe another opinion could help, I’m kinda desperate right now, so if anyone out there even has a suggestion, I would be soo thankful!
Take him to a University Vet clinic and let them check Mr. Beagle out.
I think that’s your best chance.
IF the vet has ruled out: food allergies, kidney disease, hyperthyroid, and heartworm, the only other thing I can think of which would cause that rapid a weight loss is cancer.
Have the vet Xray or MRI for bowel or lung cancer.
Another possibility is poisoning of some kind (remote poss.).
