At what age should I take the sides off my son’s cot bed?

And so turn it into a bed and not a cot? Also did you have any problems when doing this?

we took our cotsides of our childrens beds when they were making efforts to get out of the cot/cotbed. both children were about 18 months to two years and now my daughter has no cotsides to her cotbed she doesnt want to get out of bed, she just sits up and screams for me or dad. my son was gate vaulting his cotside so we put him in a bed when he was about two. he did the same as our daughter. we had great fun changing our gwens cotbed into her bed as we followed the instructions and peices of it were missing by the time we almost gave up our gwen had moved the pot with the bolts in.
