Bandage Wound Gauze

How do you get a gauze sponge off a scrape wound with MINIMUM pain?

i crashed my bike yesterday afternoon and i got this really big scrape wound on my kneecap. i quickly bought gauze bandage wra0 and tape after putting peroxide. it’s the next day and i realized i had forgotten to put ointment between the gauze and it’s sorta sticking. something like this happened a long time ago when i was young when the school nurse did the same thing and after a while i took it off, but it hurt SO MUCH.

can anybody with experience tell me exactly what to do with the gauze? i already loosened the wrap bandage so that the wound wouldn’t completely heal around the gauze. THANK YOU VERY MUCH in advance!

Soak it in hydrogen peroxide. This will loosen up the dried blood attached to the gauze pad.
