Advocate Dog Treatment

Frontline or Advocate (mites)?

My dog has developed a bit of a pink/red rash around his head & under his armpits & groin, and has become very itchy. He is scratching a lot, and rolling around on the carpet to have a good back-scratch. I wormed him a few weeks ago (tablet wormer) and he hasn’t got fleas – but could it be mites? He does go running around in long grass & trees.

I’m looking at a couple of different treatments; But which is best? Frontline or Advocate? what is the real difference and which one would be best?

P.S. Please state your professional qualifications if you have any (ie, registered Vet or breeder).

Before you shout “Go to the vet” – I’VE ALREADY BEEN.

The vet sold me some Advocate, but I’m trying to research the difference between Advocate (prescription only) & Frontline (over-the-counter).

Although people believe frontline is Over the counter, it actually isnt it is a prescrition hece why you have to sign for itor confirm alot of annoying questions lol.

I only use Effipro which is very similar to frontline, just has a different brand name. its exactly like buying a bottle of milk from asda and one from tesco! no difference.

I would say use advocate to get rid of this problem and frontline to keep on top of it before it happens again. As although frontline is not designed for this it has shown to stop this before it takes hold.

I used to use storng hod but it was costing way too much I was spending nearly 300pound for 3 months on my animals, so I thought I would tr effipro and its cut the cost to 100 for 4 months! I reccomend this if you want a cheaper alternative to frontline. but Advocate has shown to treat the home as wellafter being used every month after the intial 4 week period!
